Forget the binary, mate...Im neutral and by simply putting the perceived national security issues of both Ukraine and Russia does not mean taking sides but simply explaining why there is a war.
Bigots usually take one side or the other and perhaps that's why there are wars in the first instance.
IMO the USA, Russia, NATO and the Ukraine knew in 2013 what were the likely consequences of NATO accepting the Ukraine as a member. This is not an issue of right or wrong....its a matter of pragmatism and both Germany and France said so at the Belgrade NATO summit in 2008 when NATO/US gave strong signals that the Ukraine would be accepted into NATO.
In Aug Russia invaded Georgia to prevent Georgia from Joining NATO (disputed borders) and now Russia is doing ditto with the Ukraine. (Russia has created a disputed border issue to also prevent Moldova from joining NATO.
So in summary. this is geopolitics ...not morality... where unfortunately the strong win and now we have to await the outcome of this war to see if that is so. By saying so does not imply taking sides but instead stating the obvious ,.
IMO its an absolute tragedy for the Ukrainian people that ideologues have on both sides caused this situation as it is also a tragedy for Palestinians that ideologues have caused such death and destruction in Gaza with likely more to come.
"Where there is life there is hope" and IMO the sooner that both wars are settled, the better it is for mankind.
