In my view a copper price of US$6.00/Ib is required to stimulate much needed production via new exploration and new mines/processing plants. That price is so high because it is so expensive to bring a new copper mine into production and it also takes a long time. So US$6.00/Ib is the minimum required to compensate for risk and the time value of money.
