He didn't need to do any of those things; the appropriate course of action would have been to run his personal financial affairs with probity and with the utmost judiciousness. That is the only approach that the Chairman of a listed company should contemplate, and as a consequence NEVER find themselves in the compromised position which in turn compromises the listed company they supposedly have a high ethical obligation to.
