part of the proof is putins actions
he attacked Kyiv .....and was attempting to take Odesa
Kherson and Kharkiv aren't Donbas .....they are simply the parts of Ukraine he has been able to conquer
but you can pretend he wasn't trying to conquer Ukraine if you want to delude yourself .....few others will be fooled though
