because we are less sure of their recoverable amount, what's in 'other assets'? whats in deferred tax assets? Can they all be fully recovered at the stated value?
So to be conservative back them out, but apply the full liabilities section of the balance sheet. This gives you a more 'durable' adjusted NTA to compare with.
This use is more relevant when the underlying business is under structural risks, if the underlying business is fine, then just use standard NTA
