There is widespread industry speculation that in the event it loses its licence, Blackstone may scope out a takeover.The Australian Financial Review reported earlier this month that former PwC chief executive Luke Sayers, who is close to Mr Carruthers, has been privately discussing what a deal between Star and Blackstone would look like.
