The Americans were able to nobble the japs by forcing bad decisions on them. The Chinese are at odds with the yanks so they can make their own decisions.
They also have a few scores to settle.
Soon we will have a thriving tourist industry of upwardly mobile Chinese middle class. Frankly I prefer them to the japs.
It's the actions of the rulers that set the future good or bad. Not the people. People are mostly the same everywhere - until they are manipulated by their rulers.
