Is this:
I would need to add more panels than my roof could support and add a storage system that would cripple me financially.
Then I would have to replace everything in (approximately) a decade.saying that your idea of net zero that every household needs to generate enough of their own power on premises that they can be off-grid?
That's not how this is going to work.
Building your own coal station in your backyard and running it everyday would also cripple you financially - as well as requiring you to do daily coal loading and maintenance far more often than every decade. And solar panels last more than 20 years.
p.s. It's far easier to supply more electric capacity for road users driving evs than it is to continually ship in gigatonnes of petroleum every year.
