I’m sorry you experienced that. Of course your experience is valid and witnessing (experiencing) it as a child must have been very tough indeed. It’s interesting isn’t it that people who profess to care about family violence can be so quick to dismiss experiences. The thing that makes it much harder as a child is that it is much harder to process and make sense of it. Sometimes the judgment about cause is flawed as well. but I do know that there are two ways to go after that - you either repeat what you’ve seen or you break the pattern for your family. Many men’s behaviour program counsellors have come from extremely difficult circumstances and have done a lot of work to process their experiences and to help other men escape their own cycle of violence You’ve done well if you’ve achieved that.

Thanks Parsifal , yeah ive said it was horrible growing up but we sit around now and have a laugh about a few things that went on, not funny at the time but you cant let the past dominate our lives now , my poor mum, but he got his just desserts died very lonely. I hate violence to women , its cowardly.
