How many of the configurations so far have been successful? Why would maintenance of the cloths suddenly mean you're about to hit the right configuration after years of failing to do so? Sure, they might find something that works slightly better than before, but it's not like we've seen them getting a huge range of results ranging from adequate to fantastic, or even terrible to mediocre. We've so far seen them ranging from useless to garbage. Presumably they would first or early on try the most likely configurations to provide good results, and with no good results so far it becomes increasingly unlikely they'll hit the magical perfect configuration which suddenly takes things from an itsy bitsy percentage of nameplate to roaring ahead at absolute fulfillment of all hopes and dreams. Continually trying new configurations after making countless attempts so far might slightly optimise what you've done so far, you might squeeze out a few more percent, which in some cases is fantastic, but this is a case a tweak which increases production by a few percent is all but irrelevant.
They already spent a year or so playing around with configurations with the old cloths, which got them all of nowhere. Why are these new cloths which have now had time to be proven out with many trials already and similar results, suddenly going to magically do something amazing?
I agree, at this point there's a strong case to be made for the machine and/or operator to be replaced.
No demonstrated progress, but isn't it funny that at the same time they show their hand with preparation for a CR they tell us they're about to get the plant working (albeit with a story which doesn't make sense).
