In some cases you are right, but other companies may have track records of invariably following up non binding with binding MOU's after the conduct of appropriate due diligence.

In particular, many Japanese companies have contractual arrangement that span generations and are based on family loyalties. To them, handshakes are binding and honour is everything.

Lets just wait and see what the next week or so brings after the traders have been shaken from their branches. Remember this is a resource that has recently quadrupled in size!
