    Yes I remember that in WWII Russian soldiers were force marched to clear mine fields so the following trucks would not be blown up. Also when an infantry attack was made special NKVD "barrier" or anti-retreat detachments would shoot any Russians coming back. Russian rulers have always considered their soldiers as expendable canon fodder.
