Typically big pharma wait until the think the small developer is on the financial ropes and make a cheap partnership offer to finance help trial completion in exchange for some kind of licensing deal. For all we know there may have been some inconclusive talks already but as we get closer to some kind of result, that's going to become more urgent. They usually don't want to wait until the result arrives since it's going to be more expensive and there will be other options available for OPT if they succeed.
