Going out of their way to serve was pretty much everyone's move back in the day
I enlisted but a mate on my street fked off to Canada as a conscientious objector. Got back home and ran for Council and was elected. Sign of the times back in the 60s and 70s
Most got into the National Guard... ya know...just in case the gooks attacked NY in their sampans
As for what he is alleged to have said re soldiers...no proof
All I know is all the guys I know in the American Legion love him as do all the cops, firemen and other men serving
What I do know ids he loved America...loves the American Dream ...loves the promise of the country and hates what the left is doing
