In the Crux interview he actually talked about looking at a few acquisitions but the Resolute paper didn't hold a lot of currency in discussions. My gut is that they will want an existing producing asset in that smaller scale 100-150koz category, similar to Mako. Not many of them out there in Africa though and most are of lower quality or have higher perceived risk (Orezone in Burkina Faso for example).
Issuing Resolute stock would also likely bump up the market cap beyond US$750M and then the stock gets included in the GDX again.
