15l/100km! Or even 21 when towing! Sheesh! Why not just get a cabin or a hotel room, or hire a boat when you get there? To me that's a better solution. Or get ready for these little hobbies to be more expensive. Suck it up. Or maybe you won't have to, the way battery prices are falling and capacity is rising, even big EV utes should get cheaper too, but maybe that will take a bit longer.
As an aside, as we electrify everything and stop burning diesel, it would be good to see more electric freight trains. To take one example, the line from Sydney to Lithgow was electrified in 1957. Despite growing regional populations we haven't been able to improve on that in nearly 70 years. It's the decline of western civilisation! Oh, I just checked, on the south coast line electrification has been extended about once every decade, no doubt there are other examples, but it's not enough IMO. We really should get on with it!
