In 2027 magnets for US military equipment cannot contain materials mined or processed in China. The US government is moving things along having given $45M to MP, $250m to Lynas for the Seadrift plant and $29m to Noveon Magnetics also in Texas.
Obviously Lynas is in the best position to supply the "Western-world supply chain." A problem is that these magnets will be expensive, but GM says it will by US-made magnets
