I recall that, and fully agreed with your sentiments then and now. The board clearly had no local political insiders & experts advising them on the junta relationship too - at least from the right side anyhow, because Seydou is visibly US-aligned (a US educated former USAID rep, I believe - imo about as close to being a State Dept plant as you can get in that part of the world). And Crabb’s contributed experience to a panel of lawyers rewriting Ghana’s mining & environmental regulations 23 years ago hasn’t proved particularly helpful either from where I’m standing.
