I agree. About 500 guards to secure the facility from escape and provide supervision for the inmates around the clock against inmate/inmate violence.
To this must be added admin, medical, laundry, catering staff.

All up I expect 700 to 900 staff for the inital 1,500 inmates.

It will be interesting to see if the guards are armed or how they will be equipped to deal with break outs.

Also interesting to see whether further inmates will be dealt with by building a new centre elsewhere or expanding the Northam Facility.

I expect it is most efficient to expand Northam until about 5,000 to 6,000 inmates after which the size may become an impractical draw on the local population to operate it.
