Firstly, the blades aren't metal. They are composite. There is/was an issue with dealing with them at end of life but we are just about at the point of fully recyclable blades now . This technology is being carried over into the many other types of composites that we used to put in landfill as well.
The towers themselves are steel . They last just like the steel legs of an oil rig or jetty and can be recycled at end of life as does the nacelle.

l agree . lt would've been much easier to set targets if the COALition has allowed that more than a decade a go. Turnbull tried to get the NEG plan up. Gillard introduced a carbon tax which Abbott repealed.
Even before that Howard looked at a carbon tax. Some 20 years ago !
All were mechanisms that allowed the energy industry to plan ahead and invest for the long term with a high amount of confidence . That would meant that they could have progressively phased out fossil at a manageable pace.
lnstead, because the RWNJs of the COALition refused to budge , business did not invest resulting in the position we are in now . Consequently , we are playing catch up and the community is wearing it.
