Wow, if any of the legacy auto companies is not with or wary about moving full on with EV, they're either hopeless or nonworthy.
Its not about being on the right side or 'ideology', its about what it affects them commercially.
Ford is moving into EVs, but as with their EU counterparts, are deciding to pace themselves instead of immediately jumping in.
The difference with Western and Chinese auto makers is that Western car makers can't continue bulldozing into EVs if and when they're bleeding losses (they have their shareholders to report to), while Chinese EV makers are controlled by founder and main shareholder and supported directly by their Govt, so they are more prepared to take short term losses or lower profits for longer term gains (controlling market share and cementing global footprint).
