Europe digs deep for tsunami aid
There has been a strong surge in donations for tsunami-affected regions of Asia overnight, particularly from Europe.
UK charities have raised more than $50 million in just over a day.
Although the response is unprecedented, the Disasters Emergency Committee says more pledges are desperately needed.
With thousands of tourists still unaccounted for and feared dead, governments from across Europe have led the way overnight with a surge of donations.
Britain has announced an extra $86 million, taking the Government's total contribution to more than $120 million.
Sweden has committed $100 million and Germany $35 million.
As well, Switzerland and France have each promised close to $30 million for the aid effort.
The United Nations says $500,000 million in assistance has been promised or delivered.
