It's not selfish, the levels of immigration we've had over last few years are ridiculously high, theres no need for them, yes of course we will need some but less than a tenth of current levels and should be very selective too to ensure they fit our historic cultural norms and are productive people rather than a burden.
The modern economist is lazy or inept to rely on immigration for growth, there are much better policies one should introduce to increase our standard of living rather than the ones we currently have which are reducing our standard of living unless your in the top 5% or 10% of wealthyness of course.
