    Lol.

The deniers were previously claiming that the Chinese had coal fired power stations " for reliability " .

When l reminded them that coal only produces about 60% of China's power, which totally undermines the reliability argument , then they claimed that they could have 100% " if they wanted to ".

Reminds me of school days and the " my dad is bigger than your dad " argument . rolleyes.png

Of course , what they further forget is that China relies on an awful lot of imported coal . How's that reliability argument go again ?

So now it's the diversification excuse now .

" Look at how much nuclear we have and we are building " they say . l note that these climate deniers have jumped on the nuclear band wagon lately but accidentally forget to mention the low emission feature of nuclear . sneaky.png

    Anyway , l digress.

Nuclear in China . Apparently they have 57GW operating 24GW under construction and some more planned.

Here's what China is doing with renewables :

The International Energy Agency said in its Renewables 2023 report, released on Thursday, that China will account for 56% of renewable energy capacity additions in the 2023-28 period.

China is expected to increase renewable capacity by 2,060 gigawatts (GW) in the forecast period, while the rest of the world will add 1,574 GW, the IEA data showed.

    But wait . There's more.

In 2020, for example, China pledged to reach 1,200 gigawatts of renewables capacity by 2030, more than double its capacity at that time. At its present pace, it will meet that target by 2025, and could boast as much as 1,000 gigawatts of solar power alone by the end of 2026, an achievement that would make a substantial contribution to the 11,000 gigawatts of installed renewable capacity that the world needs to meet the 2030 targets of the Paris Agreement.

    And finally :

China installed a staggering 292.8GW of variable renewable energy in CY2023, +99% yoy,way beyond any forecasts. China is accelerating electrification of everything, sustainingstrong electricity demand growth ahead of the strong +5.2% y-o-y GDP growth delivered.

Wow. 292GW in 2023 alone !!!!!!!!! Hows that compare to the nuclear progress ??????

What was that you were saying about diversification ? tongue.png
