Lithium Hydroxide and to a lesser extent Carbonate are difficult to transport over any distance because it’s caustic and hygroscopic and highly reactive to water making sea transport problematic.
That’s why spodumene (which is stable) is transported to processors who themselves are often located adjacent to battery manufacturers and OEM’s.
