My thoughts are the body and the spirit are the soul
For instance the body without the spirit is dead,hence the bible says the dead know nothing,or the thoughts perish
One of the great controversies between christ and satan,is satan says did God really say,you shall surely die? No he dosent want you to know good and evil
In other words he put doubt in what God said
God said,in the day that you eat,you shall surely die
This wasnt an immediate death per say,it was a spiritual death
Adam and his descendants were now subject to death and emnity of mind with God
Nothing to do with God,they had the choice,and according to their choice/free will to choose to do as they pleased,God just gave and warned them of the consequences of that decision.
Biblical christianity does not teach the immortality of the soul
The new age gnosticism etc etc teach enlightenment,ie the immortality of the soul as you can clearly see kam teaching in here
The teaching that you are God and if you become enlightened ,like the Buddha the new age christ etc and their esoteric teachings on him,this is why Paul wrote extensively on these issues addressing this false concept of God
