We need to take into consideration the ratio between the special dividends and buybacks to see if management and board are really taking into consideration of passive shareholders
The Institutions also get the dividends but buybacks is simply catering for the institutions, larger shareholders and do nothing for the largest number of holders who still want to retain their shares.
Why has return of capital through a tax free distribution disappeared, for the majority of holders they only had to adjust the cost base
