UK equivalent of GST is 20%, if Australia raised the GST rate it could lower the income tax rates.
GST raises 12% total tax revenue, income tax 39%.
Double GST to 20% & you could cut income taxes by 30% across the board.
Increase GST to 15% & you could cut income tax rates by 15% across the board.
