They have done that in Australia in an attempt to convert their customers from BNPL to interest bearing accounts. Zip Plus is/was 12.95% and perhaps they are doing it in the US too. They have said they wish to engage with their estimate of 100 million 'unserved' Americans who have no bank account and low credit score. Maybe they are seeking to take on the credit card businesses with term lending, but they are scant on detail and information.
I'd like to hear what scares the banks because I think the BNPL businesses have their hands tied behind their backs if they want to confront them head on
