“One-third of its graphite imports come from China. And it has few close allies among the alternative countries at the moment.” (Euronews)

The above statement needs to be broken down to identify the real issue which is the processing (downstream) part of the equation.

I still think that almost (100%) of 'graphite concentrates' is further processed by China to produce PSG. Likewise, approximately 67% of global lithium supply is processed by China, along with 73% of cobalt, and so on and so on.

This is one of the reasons why the US has a critical minerals trade deal with Australia and recently the German foreign minister made a special trip prior to budget night to fast-track trade deals. It's not only about gaining access to Australian resources; it's also about making investments here to process them so that there is a clean break in the supply chain away from China. If not, China may simply stifle supply in order to prioritise bolstering its own sectors. Even if it is considered fair, the unintentional consequences for exChina supply is challenged.

DC has stated that China will be struggling to keep up with it own supply needs as the EV revolution gains pace.

A new source of supply created by an Australia's processing industry has never looked better than it does at the moment. Australia is about to benefit from the falling dominoes and it could all start with graphite. Siviour is shovel-ready and ripe for the taking!
