There was some conversation at PESA about it. Basically there are impurities that likely cause a cementation like effect and result in initial API figures appearing heavier at first. It's common in this style of oil field. Duncan has worked in Kirkuk and Yemen so he's probably seen it before.

Maybe an acid wash out will be attempted, but Duncan was looking for new permanent downhole sensors for future wells to live monitor production to prevent issues.

It's early days and there will be issues like this which should have a solution. Being in Cuba it will require some resourcefulness and many contacts.
