Did it ever occur to you Kyiv might see Putin's ongoing aggression, invasion and War on them as a existential threat ? That might just be a factor in their trying to hold on stubbornly. Do you think/expect/want them to lay down, roll over and submit to the stand over merchant and his aggression ?
