Talking to MDs is fine if you are seeking conformation bias. I've spoken to too many over the years take what is said as gospel. You'll hear about aims and ambitions and confidential stuff 'going on behind the scenes' but never the negatives, and if thrown a curly one will divert or claim some sort of secrecy must be kept.
Don't get me wrong, I've been here longer than most but caution when talking to what is basically a salesman.
