Dutton's plan to construct large capacity nuclear power stations on the very same sites as existing coal stations overlooks the years between decommissioning of the old coal generators and building the new nukes. Unless they acquire a lot more land alongside. During this 15-20 years construction the renewables will have majority of the market and the coal fired generators will be a massive cost due to maintenance of what is actually a scrap yard.
@pauljbo470 is correct.............this is a political plan aimed squarely at the anti renewable voters. Coalition have no intention of actually getting this past a few notes on paper and in their media. Just like those subs at current cost of $45 billion each due for delivery as far out as 30 years from now.
