I tried to keep Easter customs alive for many years, even though I am not a practicing Christian -
used to dye Eggs (egg dyes imported from Germany, also Russia [with picture transfers]).
At one time I had a whole string of blown-out Easter eggs, used as decoration onto which the kids and I had painted flowers, birds etc. - now I just have an Easter wreath, which includes colourful eggs (plastic) and artificial flowers;
and, of course, the Easter egg hunt - for little children . . . .
I do miss the Easter-specific plants - last week it was Whitsun - in Europe the beautiful Peony begins flowering just before Whitsunday - and I miss the pussy-willows - haven't seen them grow here, but have seen them in up-market flower shops in Sydney.
Celebrate! Every chance you get! That's what life is all about!
