Cheers Ozblue - I have those numbers (the 2% I quoted re: Araxa is for the bariopyrochlore ['pandaite', as they call it] concentrate described here). I was asking about this claim "Araxa has thorium in their ore at around 1,200ppm and go to considerable effort in processing, to reduce the thorium levels in their ferroniobium product. We shouldn't have the same problem with anything that detrimental, so possibly cheaper processing costs." I haven't seen anything about this additional processing effort with respect to thorium - in this technical report the thorium (and uranium) is seemingly just removed as slag in the smelting (ferroniobium synthesis) step, along with aluminum, etc. - do you have any more info? Is there some aspect of the plant design which e.g. requires radioactive shielding?
