Hey 618,
Have you ever considered why WA's largest integrated-energy suppliers haven't started acquiring their own gas fields?
It seems to me as renewable grow in importance, and the 'intermittency problem' gets bigger, they will increasingly rely on peak-gas powered generation to cover shortfalls (i.e. on a daily basis).
In this situation, you'd think it would be better for them to be able to turn the tap on-and-off as they see fit, rather than rely on GSAs with firms like STX, which requires them to receive a specific amount of gas each day/week/month.
Wouldn't direct control over gas fields allow them to manage their own energy mix in real-time?
Just thinking out loud.
