Really like the posts! But can I politely challenge the “professional” analyst community getting HLI wrong.

On the golf course have met plenty of investment bank and fund manager analysts who took very sizeable positions when ticker was GMA and its shares were less than $3 (and thankfully they got me to have a look, and then become a buyer myself).

On a course in Sydney once, there was a Yank in our playing group named Rock LaBarge (first time I met him, but am guessing by his smile this was a made up name, bloody Americans). He seemed to know all about LMI, Genworth, its dividend payouts and all the excess capital that needed to be returned. One of the other golfers said this Yank used to be a financials analyst at Macquarie and was a big holder.

Now if you are referring to the current swathe of “professionals”, yeah bit underwhelming.
