But as a percentage of total generation, try looking at Germany and their cost as they increased the percentage of renewables.
China is building hundreds of coal fired power plants, why if their renewables are so cheap? Perhaps they want reliable power for their factories like the ones producing solar panels.
SA has the most renewables in Australia, it also has the most expensive electricity.
In 2007 Australia had the cheapest power in the world @ $130/MWH, the rest of the world was around $250/MWH.
Then the rollout of renewables began, now the rest of the world is around $350/MWH, Australia is at $475/MWH.
