Buying them out takes money away that could be used for working capital/bills.
This then reduces the time they have to get another deal done…. or announcement etc etc. Before the need to raise again.
I don’t see that as nefarious.
They had multiple $5M tranches, not sure if any required an agreement between both parties to payout.
