A Handful of Dust
A story by Evelyn Waugh (a man) which translates very well to the screen and is very typical of his works in the period 1920s-50s.
Generally reflective, poignant stories he wrote - Brideshead Revisited, Decline & Fall, apart from some of his earlier work like Scoop, Vile Bodies.
This isn't a movie for those who like a start and a finish really, it's a description of lives wasted, but it is absorbing.
Not the first time I've seen it. And it's got a brilliant cameo role towards the end for Alec Guiness.
I would give it a 10 out of 10.
