The lack of new volunteers for the fighting indicates progress towards demilitarisation too.

The Russians thought back in March 2022 that Ukraine would choose neutrality and 2014 borders (basically Minsk agreement) over a long war, destruction and possible extinction of the nation but NATO was not interested in Ukraine's future so it was not allowed and Zelensky followed his orders and played his part to ban negotiation and prolong the war as much as possible for the NATO hope that it would destabilise Putin regime.
