g'day ezirider.... our generation were raised on a diet of racism. our workplaces were racist and even our tv was often racist. we were immersed in racist opinion back in the day. our kids were the first to be taught in school that White Australia had overruled in history. they learned of the massacres, the prostitution, the oppression of Aboriginal and non-white (CALD) Aussies.
the new generation of grandchildren have the good fortune to have even greater exposure to factual and inclusive historical records. as well they have the lively debate on the matter of historical accuracy.
you're quite correct "racism and violence are both part of our national DNA"..... but we're slowly overcoming the obstacle.
