Yeah, its quite clear that ReRAM will be the main replacement for eFlash!
Still going to be head to head race with MRAM, but by quantity I think ReRAM will be winning.
Honestly its soooooooo hard to keep track of the market, so many mergers, acquisitions, licensing deals, sales.
5 Largest producers of MCUs are listed below...
- NXP : Using TSMC MRAM, likely in bed with TSMC for ReRAM too, but who knows.
- MicroChip: Bought MicroSemi 2018. Was using CrossBar, assuming not now. WEEBIT PRIMARY TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!
- Renesas Seems to be banking on STT-MRAM, available now. Sold its ReRAM technology to Global Foundries in 2023
- ST Selling products with ReRAM now, unsure if the tech is in house or licensed
- Infineon Using TSMC ReRAM
- Texas Instruments : No product I could find, RRAM or MRAM. They're promoting off-chip flash. Quote (2023) below, LoL. But they're still building fabs at 45nm, so flash will still work for a while yet. WEEBIT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of these may go with both TSMC & Weebit, but for now I would be betting on MicroChip, hope the CRO is doing his job!
