Not sure beings having crossed a universe having transcended physics as we understand it, the physics we are absolutely constrained by, need symbolic animal symbols and lines to guide them. I think humans are amazing and I think South American drugs are pretty cool as well. I mean if I was on their ayahuasca and shrooms I'd draw and scratch shite all over the place as well.
We build the most astonishing architecture to honour our belief in a God. Just have a look at what has been constructed for more than a 1000 years, constructions that defy belief. Have a look at temples in India carved out of living rock to astonishing degrees of perfection. So why not these wondrous peoples who were our intellectual equals.
And yes, there is no great genius without a tincture of madness, just add God, and a few sacred herbs and I'll give you the Nazca Lines.
