the peace would only be temporary til putin comes again .....which he would , to finish the job after he had replenished and after support for Ukraine cooled at a time of his choosing

I would fight on while I had western suppport .....or until there was a deal that gave some assurance of peace beyond putins signature ....ie. NATO peacekeepers in what would be left of Ukraine after the deal

November in US will inform both parties more ....putin won't be doing any deals of any sort prior ....unless the result becomes almost certain beforehand

also .....the last time .....putin was requiring the majority of Ukraines military disbanded and outlawing seeking aid from the west ....effectively puts Ukraine under russ control ....can never be agreed to ....as also not the removal of an elected government

if these things can be managed then negotiations are possible
