Droneshield's defeat products are ineffective against autonomous drones.

Droneshield's detect capabilities include RF, radar, acoustic and visual recognition technologies, so drones emitting few or no RF signals could still be detected.

But the defeat technologies available with current Droneshield products work by disrupting the control link between the drone and the operator. If the drone is autonomous, regardless of whether they are AI controlled, then there is no control link that can be disrupted.

Droneshield is also developing a GPS jamming product, which can disrupt autonomous drones using GPS coordinates. But AI-powered image recognition is proving effective at neutralising GPS disruption technologies. GPS jamming only works on a limited range. With image recognition a drone uses GPS to get within visual range of the target and then uses vision for the last few hundred metres. This allows the drone to hit a moving target as well as a fixed one.
