I don't know about other shareholders, but I prefer not being diluted and seeing total returns negative.
That the chair needs to say "many shareholders place great importance on the payment of dividends and capital returns" suggests the Board didn't and any mentions of capital management were lip service.
If this Board end up paying a dividend, it won't be because they wanted to. It will be because they were forced to by those pesky activists.
