True it was an easy win for the board, the bluff to vote against the merger caused unprecedented votes being called on from nominee companies signifying the board was worried. Go have a look at the last AGM votes compared to this merger vote almost twice as many shares cast from 350 million to 650 million.
This was real tricky some of us (GSR) were real noisy about voting "AGAINST" as part of the bluff, we had to NOT gather so much support as to stop the merger so it was a bluff.
If shareholders want to flex muscle and give the directors a second strike (25%+ votes) they need to be organised. Someone needs to get the new registry, analyse it and prepare a mailout to the largest holders with a compelling case asking for support.
To be blunt that is the only way to flex muscle.
