Thanks @shovel40, @Fiji1 and morning crew.
Half-time wrap:
Aussie shares rose for a third session, edging closer to record levels as resource stocks reacted to commodity price gains.
The ASX 200 climbed 33 points or 0.41% by mid-session. Overnight strength in gold, copper, iron ore, oil and natural gas helped lift the materials sector 0.9% and energy stocks 0.32%. Consumer stocks and utilities were also notably strong
Index gains were kept in check by a dip in tech stocks and by book-squaring ahead of the King's Birthday long weekend. The ASX is closed on Monday for a public holiday in NSW, Victoria, SA, NT, ACT and Tasmania.
US stocks finished mixed but little changed overnight as the market took a breather ahead of tonight's May employment report. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 both set fresh intraday highs before finishing less than 0.1% lower. The Dow gained 0.2%.
